Since 2020, Nike Inc. has started expanding its celebrations surrounding Día De Muertos (Day of the Dead) to include an annual range of products speaking to the holiday’s collective cultural significance. Three years after its initial debut, the latest collection now introduces the Nike Dunk Low in an homage to the mediums through which spirits are celebrated.

Sprinkled on the ground as a pathway to the ofrenda in honor of a lost loved one, the vibrant marigold flower is represented within the glossy patterned vamp, quarter and heel that dissects the pattern of the petals. Continuing the nods to traditional Mexican folklore, the wings of a hummingbird coat the mudguard and mid-foot overlay in an olive-cured composition bearing raised details. Elsewhere, the surrounding real estate is anchored in a jet-black treatment along the collar overlay, tongue construction, inner lining and the suede profile swooshes. What’s more, a seldom hot pink appearance consumes the duo of tongue and heel tabs while an orange and turquoise insignia sits atop the cream and gum-composed sole unit underfoot.

The Nike Dunk Low “Día De Muertos” is scheduled to release on October 21st via the SNKRS app for a retail price of $125 in women’s exclusive sizing. In the meantime, the pair can be seen in detailed imagery below.
