Shaggy Suede Covers The Nike Cortez “Summit White”2024-08-26
Though certainly not to the level of the Air Jordan 1 or the Nike Dunk, the Nike Cortez is beginning to become a frequent canvas for experimentation in Beaverton. Having already carved out a sizeable lane in the lifestyle space, we’re getting arrangements like the Satin Cortez that emerged in June or a run of textured “Vintage Suede” drops including the “Summit White” colorway featured here.
Long-haired suede is the star of the shoe for this look, a radical departure from the nylon construction that usually paints the Cortez, or even from change-ups in leather or nubuck. To ensure that the overall profile doesn’t read as too unfamiliar, a characteristically neutral palette serves as a counterbalance. Bone “Summit White” covers that shaggy material, with pure white popping down the shoe’s midsole and jet black continuing from the Swoosh to the heel.
Rounding out the design, an earthy sole in “Gum Medium Brown” provides an aesthetic anchor at the very bottom of the shoe. As winter approaches, on-trend vintage runners are likely too lightweight to stand up to the elements, but a reinforced edition like this might carve a path for the Cortez to stay in your cold weather rotation.
The Nike Cortez “Summit White” is available now via Nike.com in women’s sizing, retailing for $100. Check out official images after the break to get a better sense of what to expect, or pick up your pair directly using our “Where To Buy” section included ahead.
