RAFFLE LIVE: Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 10002024-04-12
Recently, a hodgepodge of leaked images of the New Balance 1000 has been circulating, all but pointing to an official return of the New Balance 1000, a 1999 silhouette that is relatively obscure in comparison to the well-documented 99x series and its thorough history. The usual gamut of New Balance collaborative partners have been confirmed to play a role in this relaunch, with Aimé Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis going as far as teasing the shoe in his personal Instagram. Now, Joe Freshgoods offers a first official look at the model , presented through his trademark vision of duality.
Officially dubbed the “Pink Mink” and “Black Ice”, this set of Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 delivers the late 1990s running shoe like never before. One is anchored in a muted pinks; the other in a rosy copper. Both feature a matte metallic overlay, with the “Black Ice” pair drawing easy comparisons to the Air Tuned Max “Celery”, although it's a bit doubtful that Joe would reference a Nike shoe for his New Balance work.
As mentioned, the New Balance 1000 is relatively unknown, but given the immense interest around the New Balance brand, there's no better time than now for these forgotten classics entrenched deeply in the vault to see the light of day. Expect a full onslaught of in -line “GR” colorways as well as collaborations from ALD and much more. These Joe Freshgoods joints won't be available until April, so stay tuned for updates.
