For Nike’s introduction of the Air Max Scorpion in 2022, the Swoosh let the silhouette speak for itself. Lacking any collaborations or themed releases in its debut year, the sneaker now finds itself a part of the brand’s Chinese New Year-themed “Leap High” collection for 2023’s Year of the Rabbit. Joining other silhouettes such as the Air Force 1 High Utility 2.0, Blazer Mid and ACG Lowcate, the Air Max Scorpion hops into the fray.

Beginning at the upper, the shoe’s signature Flyknit chenille composition appears in a bright white with thematic shapes. Its black Swooshes are embroidered with a shape that replicates movement with its unique tail. The theme’s custom tongue design reappears with “Leap High” text joined by Nike (NYSE:NKE +1.13%) branding. Pivoting to the sneaker’s eye-catching sole unit, a white and black marbled effect hits the uppermost layer while the full-length Air midsole is supported by a translucent rubber outsole. A red commonly used in CNY celebrations outfits the sockliner and heel tab while also accenting the midsole, completing the look alongside optional furry laces.

The Nike Air Max Scorpion “Leap High” and the series’ other styles have not received an official release date from the Swoosh yet. It is currently expected to land on shelves in January for CNY via Nike and select retailers at a price of $250 USD.
