Behold The Nike Air Max 1000, A 3D-Printed Re-imagination Of The Air Max 12024-11-15
Nike has officially unveiled its newest Air Max shoe – the Nike Air Max 1000. According to Nike Chief Design Officer John Hoke, the Air Max 1000 is a 3D-printed re-imagination of the Air Max 1, and made in collaboration with 3D-printing leader Zellerfeld.
At the foundation of Nike’s sport-centered legacy is an obsession with cushioning. Air has always at the forefront of the brand’s innovation push, with 1987’s Air Max 1 demonstrating the perfect blend of function, comfort, and self-expression that has become a worldwide phenomenon. Now, with the Nike Air Max 1000, the Swoosh brand is taking another major leap forward by implementing modern design and manufacturing practices.
The silhouette of the Air Max 1 is apparent, particularly through the wavy lines representing the mudguard. The Air unit at the heel is also placed similarly to the model, which was originally designed by Tinker Hatfield.
The upper half of the Air Max 1000 appears smooth to the touch, with a small Swoosh logo carved into the mid-foot. Beneath the mudguard and outsole are ergonomic carvings that are etched into its sides.
