After Conquering Clogs, Salehe Bembury Reveals The Crocs Juniper Sneaker

How Crocs rose to be where it’s at today is nothing short of a miracle. At one point, they were considered so repulsive that were deemed suitable for an intellectually flaccid society of a dystopian future in the film Idiocracy. Today, their collaborations and creative projects are generating interest from the sneaker community and fashion circles, some of which have ended up stealing the spotlight at the gaudiest of events — Paris Fashion Week.

While Crocs has been very active in its collaborative partnerships, the shift in perception is attributed to Salehe Bembury and his reinvention of the rubber clog. Since 2021, the Pollex Clog’s anatomical look has become one of the most sought-after slip-ons on the market, expanding from the original white colorway to covering nearly the entire spectrum of colors.

Seemingly content with the success of the Pollex Clog and its slide spin-off, Salehe and Crocs are now embarking into the world of sneakers, a move which many saw as inevitable. After a series of teasers on social media, the Crocs Juniper has been officially revealed as the brand’s first sneaker to come to market.

Combining Salehe’s signature touch with classic sneaker design principles, the Juniper Crocs is, at first glance, impressive. Perforated toe-boxes, a  six-eyelet shoelace system, and an interior mesh-based bootie are your standard sneaker ingredients, but it’s got that distinctive identity due to the translucent rubber outsole and trademark fingerprint traction.
